Kentucky Weekly Recruiting Rundown: 8-10/8-13

Johnny O’Bryant, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Mississippi, has cut his list of schools. O’Bryant was previously looking Georgetown, Mississippi, Mississippi State, LSU, Georgia Tech, Kansas and Kentucky. Now three of those schools have been knocked off of the list. Those schools are Georgetown, Kansas and Kentucky. As a top thirty player in the class of 2011, he would have been a good acquisition for the Cats, who have yet to find a big man. Despite this loss for Kentucky, they still have a number of different options at power forward including Quincy Miller, Anthony Davis and Kyle Wiltjer.

Chane Behanan, a 6-foot-8 wing from Ohio took an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Wednesday. While he has not been offered by the Kentucky staff yet, the coaches are extremely interested in him and his progress throughout the summer. With offers from schools like Louisville, West Virginia and Texas, Behanan is surely a top fifty player who is starting to become a household name. While not much word has gotten out about the visit, Chane thinhks very highly of the Wildcats.

Rumors have been swirling around about Andre Drummond, a 6-foot-11 center from Connecticut, and the chances of him reclassifying. Drummond, who is now a member of the class of 2012, has reclassified before, but these are just rumors. While his high school coach, Jere Quinn of St. Thomas Moore, does not believe Andre will move up a grade into the class of 2011. As the top player in his grade, Drummond is set to come out with an official list of schools that he is interested in. The list is expected to come out any day and Kentucky is projected to be on it along with UConn and North Carolina, among others.

Speaking of UConn, former Huskies commit Maurice Harkless is now picking up interest from the Wildcats. His mentor Nate Blue told reporters that Oregon and Kentucky were the two new schools in the running for the 6-foot-8 wing from New York. While Harkless has already cut his list down to eight schools, the Wildcats were one of the original teams involved with him before he made his pledge to Connecticut. Could they be in it again?

Anthony Davis, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Chicago, has yet to inform Syracuse or Ohio State of his commitment. While the younger Davis claims he has not made up his mind yet, his father says he has. While reports stated that Kentucky would land him, nothing more has been said. The Orange and Buckeyes are in the running for him, along with Kentucky and DePaul.

While more rumors came around, one stuck to Quincy Miller, a 6-foot-9 power forward from North Carolina. Reports stated that Miller was leaning towards Louisville but was turned off because he felt Rick Pitino would hold him back from leaving after one year. Miller is projected to be a high pick in NBA Draft. Quincy denied this report on his twitter saying that he has no favorites and does not think Pitino will hold him back. Despite this, he will take a visit with his good friend, Deuce Bello, to Louisville on the weekend of September 4th. Louisville plays Kentucky in a football game that weekend and it is sure to be intense!
