A former Cincinnati commit has pledged his allegiance to the Wildcats. Tight end Khamari Anderson announced he has committed to Kentucky following an official visit to Lexington over the weekend.

Khamari Anderson is a three-star prospect and the No. 26 tight end in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He initially committed to play football for Cincinnati in February, but reopened his recruitment following a coaching change.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound athlete is from Detroit powerhouse Cass Tech. It’s the same school that produced two starters for the 2022 Kentucky defense, DeAndre Square and Deone Walker. This fall Anderson caught 25 passes for 339 yards and 5 touchdowns to help Cass Tech win the Detroit Public School League Championship and reach the Division I State Semifinals. He has been selected to play in this year’s Under Armour All-American Game.

Kentucky’s 15th commitment in the 2023 recruiting class is also their second tight end commit. He will team up alongside Tanner LeMaster in Vince Marrow’s meeting room. The Wildcats’ class ranks just outside the Top 35 of the On3 Consensus team rankings.

Khamari Anderson Kentucky Impact

Cincinnati was a thorn in the side of Kentucky’s recruiting efforts in the 2023 class. Vince Marrow remained persistent and it paid off once Luke Fickell departed for Wisconsin. Even after receiving an offer from the Badgers, Anderson took an official visit to Lexington and was immediately sold on the Wildcats’ vision. Not only does it feel good to get one back from the Bearcats, Kentucky is preserving its Cass Tech pipeline with Steve Clinkscale calling the shots.

Josh Kattus and Jordan Dingle provided a pathway to early production in Kentucky’s pro-style offense. Even though that will slightly alter under Liam Coen’s tutelage, the tight end will still be a vital part of the Wildcats’ pass-catching operation. Khamari Anderson shows some burst in open space, but more importantly, he’s not afraid to get his nose dirty in the trenches and drive opponents into the turf.
