It has been 770 days since Kentucky defeated an SEC foe at Kroger Field. It’s imperative to end that 10-game losing streak when Florida travels to Lexington for a 7:30 PM ET kickoff on the SEC Network.

Florida has not played a November road game at Kentucky since 1990. However, the last time they came to town was also the Cats’ last home win against an SEC foe. Ray Davis ran all over Florida with 280 yards and four touchdowns. Can Seth McGowan replicate that kind of performance? He’s already played well against the Gators once.

The last time we saw Florida take the field, a different Billy was leading the Gators. Gonzales replaced Napier as the interim head coach and managed an inspiring performance against Georgia. Leading the rivalry game by three in the fourth quarter, Florida went for it inside the red zone and got stuffed, leaving the door cracked for the Dawgs to win 24-20.

The Gators are banged up and could be emotionally gassed following the rivalry loss. Kentucky has some momentum after taking down Auburn on The Plains. The postseason is still a possibility for the Cats, and this fanbase is desperate for a victory at Kroger Field. This feels like a do-or-die moment for Mark Stoops? Can the Kentucky head coach deliver?

The Hype Video

Kentucky is a 3-point underdog against Florida on BetMGM. Vegas is expecting a slobber-knocker, with a total of 44.5.

The Cats have performed well in similar spots vs. the Gators. Kentucky is on a 5-1-2 ATS run in this series. The Gators have not covered in Lexington since 2015. Florida is 3-9 ATS as road favorite since 2020. Mark Stoops has recorded three outright upset wins (2018, 2021, 2022) against Florida. UK is 12-7 ATS as home dog since 2016.

Kentucky QB Goes Viral

Most Kentucky fans had not thought of Zach Calzada in months. He was brought in to be the starter, got hurt, and then was benched for Cutter Boley, who has been an incredible success story. Some wondered why Kentucky invested any time with Calzada. It’s now the biggest question Kentucky football fans are asking ahead of an important game.

Calzada went viral after he sent a video to “Garrett,” flashing $100 bills. It was a bad look that was only amplified when we learned that Kentucky spent approximately $1.25 million for Calzada to complete 25 passes in less than two games. He issued an apology, but all the embarrassing ordeal did was highlight Stoops’ roster mismanagement and transfer portal misevaluations.

Uniforms for the Florida Game

This felt like a game where Kentucky might roll out some gray uniforms. Nope. They are keeping it classic with an all-blue look against the Gators.

The Florida Gators will be wearing orange helmets and orange pants with white jerseys. Kentucky lost its last two games against SEC teams in orange uniforms. Hopefully, that’s not an omen for what’s to come.

Kentucky Dispatches Valpo at Rupp Arena

And boy, was it beautiful. It’s amazing the difference a point guard can make. Jaland Lowe returned to the court for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in the Blue-White Game, and instantly transformed the offense. Lowe had a team-high five assists in only 18 minutes of action. He was slicing, dicing, and delivering dimes to open teammates.

In the first half, Kentucky assisted on 16 of 22 made shots. They only missed eight attempts, were 7-13 from three, and 7-7 from the the free three line. It was beautiful basketball.

Five players scored in double figures in Kentucky’s 107-59 romp at Rupp Arena. Otega Oweh had 15, but Malachi Moreno was the player everyone was talking about after the game. The freshman had a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double.
