The Knights of Lexington Catholic play host to the Cooper Jaguars in a 3A vs. 5A matchup. Injuries have tormented Lex Cath early in the season forcing underclassmen to play huge roles especially defensively. The Knights have played a touch non-district schedule thus far traveling to Johnson Central and Cov Cath losing both games in tough battles. Senior QB Kirk Fagot leads a young offense that is averaging 26 points per game, Fagot has thrown for 866 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. Fagot must find his playmakers on the outside against a Cooper defense that shut out the Knights in last years match up. Ben Buchignani has emerged as Fagot's favorite target this year catching 18 balls for 338 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns. Lex Cath has not put together a full game this season, there have been encouraging signs for a young team but finishing is something Head Coach Mark Perry will emphasize this week. Coach Perry is hoping to steal a big game to gain momentum for district play. Cooper's QB Jarod Lonaker is enjoying himself an impressive senior season throwing for 1,412 yards and 13 touchdowns in just 5 games. Lonaker has connected with his favorite target Dante Hendrix 24 times for 487 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hendrix had a field day against Lex Cath last year catching 8 passes for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cooper is hoping to bounce back after a disappointing 46-20 loss to northern Kentucky foe Simon Kenton, the Jaguars had scored over 40 points in each of their games prior to last weeks loss. I would expect Cooper to test Lex Cath's young secondary that hasn't faced a receiver like Hendrix this season. Cooper running back Jaden Jackson is the workhorse for the Jaguars rushing for 622 yards and 7 touchdowns. Jackson could have a huge game against the Knights defense that has struggled against the run this season. Eli's Pick - I expect Dante Hendrix to have a huge game for Cooper but Coach Mark Perry will have the Knights ready to play a complete game and pick up a huge win 28-21. Other Notable Games  Corbin (5-0) vs. Mayfield (5-0) - A showdown between two undefeated teams will make for great football on Friday night at Lindsey Wilson College. The Redhounds defense is giving up just 7 points per game while Mayfield has scored 40 plus in each of their games. Somethings gotta give tomorrow night. Simon Kenton (5-0) vs. Highlands (1-4) - Simon Kenton is looking to beat the Bluebirds for the second straight season. Highlands has not looked like itself this season losing 4 of their last 5 games in mostly blowouts. Simon Kenton looks like the best team in Northern KY and hopes to prove it in Fort Thomas. Tates Creek (3-2) vs. Bryan Station (3-2) - Tates Creek has bounced back from an 0-2 start to win their last 3 games. The Commodores offense has averaged 41 points against Dunbar, Henry Clay, and Madison Southern. Wide Reciever Jackson Beerman has caught 14 balls for 470 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bryan Station has faced a tough schedule but hopes to keep their 2 game winning streak alive. Waggener (3-1) vs. Central (0-4) - The Waggener Wildcats have a real chance to take control of the district this year as Central is off to an abysmal start. The Yellow Jackets have been blown out in their last two games against CAL and St.X. Coach Tryann Scroggins knows how important home field advantage is for the playoffs, I would expect the Yellow Jackets to be ready.
