KSR Today: Antonio Reeves vs. Jack Gohlke Part Two

All is quiet for Kentucky basketball as the offseason ramps up. Following Adou Thiero’s decision to enter the transfer portal, test the draft waters and consider a potential return to Lexington exactly one week ago, there hasn’t been a single roster update regarding stay/go decisions. KSBoard has plenty of fresh intel on where guys are leaning (click here if you haven’t caught up yet) but the public announcements have been a slow burn, to put it lightly. Until then, we’ve been getting by with a few confirmed transfer portal contacts, new ones on Wednesday being Belmont’s Cade Tyson and Stetson’s Jalen Blackmon. There is some chatter that things are ramping up with Rutgers’ Cliff Omoruyi, but we’re still mostly in the wait-and-see phase as some of these toss-ups are decided for the current roster.
So what else is going on in the world of UK Athletics as we gear up for Final Four weekend in Phoenix? Let’s go rapid fire this morning on some updates, shall we?
Antonio Reeves battles in Hanes Men’s 3-Point Championship
Hey, how about some basketball news? We’ll take it — especially given the opponent.
John Calipari’s all-time single-season leading scorer Antonio Reeves will participate in the Hanes Men’s 3-Point Championship tonight at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. He is the fifth Kentucky player to participate in the three-point contest since it started in 1989, joining Gerald Fitch (2004), Scott Padgett (1999), Travis Ford (1994), and Davion Mintz (2022).
Joining him? Well, it’ll be a rematch of the NCAA Tournament first round in Pittsburgh, none other than Oakland’s Jack Gohlke suiting up in the competition.
Take a look at the entire field:
- Jamison Battle, Ohio State
- Boo Buie, Northwestern
- Boogie Ellis, USC
- Jack Gohlke, Oakland
- Quincy Olivari, Xavier
- Antonio Reeves, Kentucky
- Tyler Thomas, Hofstra
- Keisei Tominaga, Nebraska
Time to shut that kid up. His 15 minutes of fame are over.

Antsy for UK Baseball
Mother nature sure has been a buzzkill this week for our BatCats, postponing their anticipated matchup vs. Louisville not once, but twice. First, it was a move from Tuesday to Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. ET. And then yesterday, we got an update that the game would be postponed once again due to the forecast of inclement weather and with the health and safety of both players and fans in mind.
No makeup date has been set as of today, with tickets issued for that matchup honored for the to-be-announced date or refunded if that game is not played.

Fry, Castle primed to make cut at Augusta National Women’s Amateur
It’s been a strong showing for the Cats at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in Evans, Georgia, as UK All-Americans Laney Frye and Jensen Castle are both in a solid spot — the former in position to make the cut for the very first time in her career.
Frye, a Nicholasville native, is competing in her second straight Augusta National Women’s Amateur and turned in an even-par 72 for a share of 29th place. As for Castle, she went 2-over-par 74 for a share of 44th place to open the event on Wednesday.
Golf Channel and NBC will continue their coverage of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Frye teed off the second round at 8:23 a.m. ET while Castle is set to do the same at 9:55 a.m. ET.
