The only sound I want to hear before I’ve had my morning caffeine is the TODAY Show, but today, I’m making an exception. Three of Eastern Kentucky’s most famous musicians are coming together tonight at Rupp Arena to raise money for their homeland. The Kentucky Rising concert featuring Chris Stapleton, Dwight Yoakam, and Tyler Childers starts at 7 p.m. Limited tickets are still available on Ticketmaster and if I didn’t have work responsibilities this afternoon, I’d entertain driving up to enjoy what is sure to be a special night at Rupp.

If you’re going to the concert, or just like to party, come by KSBar to enjoy some food, drinks, and some tunes before the big show. Although we appreciate all three artists, the playlist will be Childers-heavy. In fact, we might as well start listening now. It’ll be hard to top favorites like “Charleston Girl” and “Follow You To Virgie,” but his new album is slowly growing on me.

Need-to-Know from a busy Monday

Monday was “gotta get back to work” day for the Kentucky Football team. Stoops used his favorite phrase several times during his weekly press conference in regard to Saturday’s loss to South Carolina. Here’s a quick rundown of his comments if you missed it live:

See all of Stoops’ press conference below or read the transcript.

Afterward, Drew Franklin and Adam Luckett stepped outside the facilities to share their takes on what Stoops had to say.

A few hours later, Nick Roush and Freddie Maggard joined the conversation on the KSR Football Podcast.

Tuesdays with Rich

Saturday’s playcalling was frustrating, to say the least. It’s Tuesday, so offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello will meet with reporters after practice to answer questions about his unit and how they’ll look to regroup vs. Mississippi State, with or without Will Levis. Check the site and YouTube Channel tonight for a rundown and videos.

DeAndre Square appreciation post

No one was as upset about Saturday’s loss as supersenior linebacker DeAndre Square. Check out this picture of Square on the field after the game captured by UK Cheer assistant coach Jay Hollman.

Gonna miss Square when he’s gone.

Sources Say Live at 8 p.m.

Jack Pilgrim was one of the few media members invited to Kentucky Basketball’s Pro Day on Sunday. He recapped the event on the site shortly after and tonight, he and Shawn Smith will continue to break it down on the Sources Say podcast. Watch live on our YouTube Channel starting at 8 p.m. and chime in with your thoughts and questions on the chat. I expect a lot of the conversation will center around Daimion Collins‘ explosive performance.

Wholesome Oscar Tshiebwe Content of the Day

Oscar Tshiebwe spent part of his Monday with some lucky fourth-graders at Veterans Park Elementary in Lexington. To make the visit even more special, each student got their own headband.

Jimmy Dykes was with Oscar on the visit, a good sign we’ll see more of it on a future ESPN broadcast.

Blue-White Game tickets available for Eastern Kentucky residents

Tickets to the Blue-White Game go on sale to the public Wednesday, but if you live in Eastern Kentucky you can get yours now. Residents with billing zip codes in the counties of Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Whitley, and Wolfe are eligible for a presale that is currently underway. Current UK Students can also purchase a limited number of tickets through a UK Student presale.

The Blue-White Game takes place October 22 at 6 p.m. ET at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville. Doors open at 5 p.m. A Fan Fest will be held outside of the arena beginning at 3 p.m. and will include the official UK pregame show, a Cat Walk for the team, and food and drink vendors.

Tennessee gonna Tennessee

The Cats may have dropped two in a row but at least we don’t cheer for Tennessee.
