Good morning, friends. As you read this, I’m hopefully already in my car headed north on I-65 toward Lexington. We’ve got a busy day of meetings at KSBar and KSOffice as we prepare for football season. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Bluegrass Parkway or eaten KSBar’s famous wings, so I’m looking forward to it. If you see a black Ford Escape with Davidson and Power K stickers and a Tennessee plate, please wave.

It’s also a big day for the Kentucky Football team, which resumes practice after breaking for the first day of class on Monday. That’s where we’ll start today’s rundown.

We’ll hear from Liam Coen and Kentucky’s offense

Fall camp is officially over as the team transitions to game prep. Today and tomorrow, we’ll hear from coaches on both sides of the ball. Late this afternoon, Liam Coen and members of the offense will address reporters following practice. It’ll be a hot one, with temperatures expected to climb to the mid-to upper-90s with head indexes possibly reaching triple digits. Lots of water for the Wildcats, reporters, and anyone else who’s outside this week. It’s miserable.

We’ll bring you Coen’s comments on the site and YouTube Channel tonight. Until then, get your football fix with the KSR Football Podcast. Last night, the guys gathered to discuss Kentucky’s final scrimmage of camp, a memorable first weekend of high school football, Mark Stoops taking shots at Louisville at Monday’s Louisville Alumni Association Kickoff Luncheon, and how we’re going to get through the next 11 days until kickoff.

Stoops feeling good

As mentioned, Mark Stoops couldn’t help but take a shot at Louisville at Monday’s Louisville Alumni Kickoff Luncheon, quipping to Tom Leach that he was “surprised to see” the Governor’s Cup trophy in “Jefferson County” for once. In his comments preceding the luncheon, he had plenty of nice things to say about Jeff Brohm too, but it was fun to start our week with a little rivalry.

The jab at Louisville was by far the most interesting thing Stoops said on Monday, which is hardly surprising with just 11 days to go until the season opener. After two weeks of camp, he’s feeling good about his team and the progress they’ve made addressing positions of concern last season (offensive line). It’s great to have Liam Coen back. Getting Devin Leary feels like a steal. Check out all the comments below. It’s the last time we’ll hear from Stoops before his first Monday press conference of the season on the 28th. We’re almost there, folks.

Former Cats in action at the World Athletics Championship

So far, two former Kentucky stars have won medals at the World Athletics Championship. On Sunday, Alexis Holmes led Team USA to a dramatic come-from-behind victory AND world record in the mixed 4x400m relay. A day later, Daniel Roberts won his first-ever Worlds medal, finishing third in the 110m hurdles.

Today, three former Wildcats begin their journey in the 100m hurdles. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will represent Puerto Rico and Keni Harrison and Masai Russell Team USA in the preliminary heats, which begin at 12:40 p.m. ET. Micaela Hazlewood will also compete in the finals of the women’s discus throw at 2:20 p.m. ET. You can watch both events live on USA Network, NBCSports.com, or the Peacock app.

New Sources Say Podcast

Football is our focus right now but there is some basketball news to pass along. Zvonimir Ivisic has been added to Kentucky’s official roster and he will wear No. 44 for the Wildcats. Oscar Tshiebwe will also return to the Bluegrass this weekend for a special autograph event at Rupp Arena and Youth Camp with the current team, scheduled for Sunday.

The Sources Say Podcast will convene tonight on the KSR YouTube Channel to discuss all the latest news. Due to football practice, we may have some changes in our show times this week, so subscribe to receive a notification when they go live.

“Swamp Kings” drops on Netflix

If you’re looking for something to watch tonight, “UNTOLD: Swamp Kings,” the docuseries on Florida’s run in the mid-2000s, drops on Netflix. The four-part series begins when Urban Meyer was hired in 2005 and ends when he resigned at the end of the 2009 season. Included in that span are Tim Tebow’s rise to stardom, nearly three dozen arrests, and a lot of Aaron Hernandez drama — which apparently is barely mentioned in the series. Early reviews have not been kind, but you can judge for yourself starting today.

Speaking of Netflix series, one that will be of interest to many of you also comes out soon. On Monday, we found out that “Wrestlers,” the docuseries on Ohio Valley Wrestling by the creator of “Last Chance U” and “Cheer” premieres on September 13. Matt Jones, a co-owner of OVW, will be featured prominently in the show and according to those that have seen it, comes off as the villain. If you missed it yesterday, here’s the trailer.

September 13 is going to be a surreal day for sure. I’m sure they’ll talk about the show on today’s episode of KSR, which begins one hour from now.
