KSR Today: Kentucky Football Senior Day at Kroger Field

The final game of the 2025 Kentucky football season at Kroger Field is upon us. Kentucky will honor 25 seniors before welcoming an FCS foe. Tennessee Tech isn’t your typical, lower-level pushover. The Golden Eagles are riding a 15-game winning streak as one of the most dominant teams in the FCS.
Bobby Wilder started the Old Dominion program from scratch and turned the Monarchs into a winner. Now he’s got a balanced team, led by dual-threat quarterback Kekoa Visperas, who’s thrown for 39 touchdowns and run for a dozen more. They have a balanced rushing attack and the best rushing defense in the FCS. Kentucky cannot overlook the Golden Eagles, and they certainly don’t plan on it.
“We gotta come in here and do our job, handle business, and treat them like another SEC opponent,” said quarterback Cutter Boley. “They’re a good ball club and we’re going to come in and play our ball, just stick to our game.”
With three games to go, Kentucky is two wins away from a bowl bid. The Wildcats got the momentum rolling with a win on The Plains and a victory over Florida. Hopefully, Kentucky keeps its foot on the gas for a feel-good day of football on a beautiful 65-degree day at Kroger Field.

The 2025 Senior Class
Unfortunately, a couple of these seniors will not be able to play in their final game at Kroger Field. Alex Afari was sidelined against Florida, and Jordan Lovett must undergo season-ending surgery. Even though ten of these seniors were only in Lexington for a year, they’re two wins away from completing a remarkable turnaround.

BBN United Tipoff Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism Champs
After suffering a loss at Louisville, Kentucky bounced back with a commanding championship victory. The Wildcats secured a sweep in the BBN United Tipoff Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism with a 99-53 victory over Eastern Illinois.
Kentucky held EIU to just 32.7% from the floor in a game where they led by 30 points for the entire second half. Mo Dioubate had his best game as a Wildcat and his fist double-double with a 20-point, 11-rebound performance. Trent Noah returned to the lineup and knocked down a pair of threes. Denzel Aberdeen replaced the injured Jaland Lowe and had 13 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. Otega Oweh added 12, and Andrija Jelavic tallied 11 points off the bench in the victory. Kentucky’s next test is a big one against Michigan State in Tuesday’s Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden.

More from the Kentucky Victory over Eastern Illinois
The biggest question on everybody’s mind is about the point guard. Will Jaland Lowe be able to return after re-injuring his shoulder? Mark Pope could not provide any more clarity after the win. “We don’t have anything yet, so we’ll probably have some discussions over the next couple of days about what’s the best thing to do right now,” Pope said.
It’s probably best to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Here’s what else we were talking about after the Kentucky win:

Kentucky vs. Louisville in the NCAA Tournament
In case you didn’t get enough of a taste of this in-state rivalry, we’ve got another dose this afternoon. The Louisville women’s soccer team is hosting Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It’s the second straight year the Wildcats have punched a ticket to the Big Dance, after Kentucky finished with a 12-4-4 record, 5-2-3 in SEC play. The match kicks off at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium (the Floyd Street Lynn Stadium) at 2 PM ET. Tickets are available here and you can stream the action on ESPN+.
Another Kentucky Volleyball Victory
It wasn’t easy, but the Wildcats got the job done. Kentucky dropped the first two sets to Oklahoma before rallying for a 5-set win. The Cats needed to go to extra points to keep the match alive in the third set, before picking up enough steam to take down Oklahoma (18-25, 21-25, 28-26, 25-19, 15-12). Eva Hudson led the Cats with 19 kills, and Brooklyn Deleye had 16 in the win that kept the Cats undefeated in SEC play.
You can watch this talented team one more time at Historic Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky hosts Arkansas tomorrow at 1 PM and the game can be viewed on SECN+.
Women’s Basketball Hits the Road
Kenny Brooks’ squad has already played one true road game, a victorious Clara Strack homecoming game at Buffalo. The Kentucky women’s basketball team is hopping on I-64 to Huntington, where the Wildcats will take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at 1 PM ET on ESPN+.
