KSR Today: Time to peel ourselves off the turf

The Crimson Tide steamrolled over Kentucky on Senior Day, an analogy that puts the domination witnessed on the football field mildly. From the very start of the game, the ‘Cats looked like the inferior team, unable to stop anything Alabama wanted to do on offense and equally inept moving the ball with any sort of meaningful threat themselves. If it weren’t for a muffed punt, Bama may have jumped out to an even bigger lead.

The final score was 49-21, but it really wasn’t that close. Two games remain in the regular season, both on the road. Next week, Kentucky will travel to South Carolina, and the following week they will take on the surprisingly talented Louisville Cardinals squad.

Mark Stoops and company are going to have to find a way to peel themselves off the turf and prepare for what should be a winnable game in Columbia in order to generate a tiny bit of momentum when they go into Papa John’s Stadium to round out the regular season over Thanksgiving weekend.

As for Saturday’s loss, KSR has you covered for all your misery-wallowing needs.

Recapping the tough loss

Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops also had a word or two to say after the loss. Hear all the words below:

Kentucky Women’s Basketball Gets the Win

At least there was one Kentucky sports team who dominated the competition on Saturday. The women’s basketball team ran away with a victory over USC Upstate 82-54 in Rupp Arena.

Ajae Petty led the ‘Cats in scoring with a career-high 19. The forward towered over the undersized opponent, snagging nine rebounds, forcing turnovers, and contesting shots on the other end of the floor as well.

It was also a bit of a coming-out party for sophomore Zennia Thomas. She had a career-high 10 points and also recorded two rebounds and one assist.

In total, five players scored in double figures to help Kentucky cruise to their 28-point win.

BBNFL Schedule

Will Levis will make his third NFL start today when the Titans take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now that Mike Vrabel has named Levis the starter for the remainder of the year, it will be interesting to see if he gives him more of a play-making leash than he did last week.

Time to Prep for Kansas

Over on the men’s side of the hardwood, Kentucky finished its second tuneup game of the regular season on Friday when they took down Texas A&M Commerce 81-61. Not unlike on the football field, the ‘Cats started off slow, finding themselves down double-digits early on, but eventually turned it on and came away with a 20-point victory.

As the KSR basketball crew summed up, it was a solid win, but the real test will be on Tuesday when the Wildcats take on the Kansas Jayhawks in the Champions Classic in Chicago. The man at the center of the story will no doubt be Hunter Dickinson. The 7-foot Michigan transfer nearly committed to Kentucky, but Jeff Ruby’s chicken fingers weren’t enough to keep in in Lexington. Instead, Dickinson joined Kansas and will likely give Tre Mitchell and Jordan Burks all they can handle as Kentucky’s centers remained sidelined.

Regardless, it should be a good battle between two blue bloods.
