KSR Today: Vince Marrow to Louisville, Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison Media Day

Sometimes you’re enjoying a beer with your friends, talking about stupid KSR posts you wrote back in the day, when massive news strikes. That was us on Monday during the KSR Happy Hour when the news dropped that Vince Marrow is leaving Kentucky for Louisville. Sixteen hours later, we’re still digesting it.
If you’ve been paying attention, the move didn’t come out of nowhere. Nick Roush reported the day after Kentucky’s loss to Louisville in the Governor’s Cup that Marrow was mulling a move down I-64. He and Jeff Brohm played together in the XFL and have maintained a friendship. A few days later, he came on KSR to clear the air and talk about the staff’s “Come to Jesus” meeting to get on the same page for the 2025 season. At the end of that interview, Matt asked Marrow to confirm if he expects to be on Kentucky’s staff next fall. The brief pause followed by “Yes, yep, yes” speaks volumes.
Seven months later, Vince is headed to Louisville, where he will serve as Louisville’s general manager, overseeing recruiting, roster management, and the transfer portal. What lies ahead for the Kentucky Football program? That is a question we’ll be asking for the foreseeable future, but Marrow leaving a job for which he’s extremely highly paid in a town where he is incredibly popular, working alongside one of his lifetime friends, to go work for their archrival is the biggest red flag yet in an already uncomfortable offseason.
We’ll continue to cover this story all day. Catch up on our coverage below.
- Breaking news story
- Interesting Jon Sumrall tweet
- Roush on what led to Vince leaving and what it means moving forward
- Potential TE coach replacements
- National media reaction
- Matt Jones shares his thoughts
Here is the moment we found out Vince was jumping ship on KSR Happy Hour (which also included some hilarious summer camp stories that you need to go back and listen to):
After churning out some posts and collecting his thoughts, Roush sat down for a longer conversation with Adam Luckett, who was kind enough to take a break from his vacation in Florida to react to the news. Luckett is back in the saddle today to help lead us through a tumultuous time.
Kentucky Football also got a commitment last night
Wildly, Kentucky Football landed a football commitment after the news broke from three-star wide receiver Prince Jean, who picked the Cats over Mississippi State, Kansas State, Virginia, and Georgia. Wide receivers coach L’Damian Washington was his primary recruiter and made quite an impression on Jean’s official visit over the weekend.
“I believe in the staff and that they will get back on track,” Jean told KSR+. “I want to be a part of that.”
Jean is Kentucky’s third commitment in the 2026 class, joining Texas wide receiver Davis McCray and in-state offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland. I imagine Strickland is going to be heavily courted by Marrow and Louisville; hopefully, Stoops and his staff can keep him on board. This is a tumultuous time for the program, making now the perfect time to maximize your coverage in the most ridiculous manner possible with a KSR+ subscription.
So…what else is happening today? Let’s finally get to the rundown before more news breaks. We haven’t even talked about a historic night for Murray State, so we’re starting there in honor of Steven Pake, one of many Racers alums who is on cloud nine this morning.
Murray State beats Duke to advance to first CWS
How about them Racers? After beating Ole Miss to advance to its first Super Regional in school history, Murray State did it again, beating Duke to take the final spot in the College World Series. The Racers held off the Blue Devils 5-4 in a dramatic winner-takes-all Game Three last night in Durham. They are just the fourth regional No. 4 seed to ever advance to the CWS and the first team from the Missouri Valley Conference to do it since 2003.
It didn’t come without some drama. Murray State appeared to win the game after an interference call at second base, prompting the Racers to dog pile in celebration, but it was overturned after an official review, giving Duke another chance. Thankfully, Murray State pitcher Graham Kelham was able to regroup and get a groundout to first to end the game, leading to an even more epic celebration.

Now, Murray State will face UCLA in the CWS on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET (ESPN). They’re by far the biggest underdog in Hoover, but will have all of Racer Nation, Big Blue Nation, and probably America cheering for them. Shoes up!

Otega Oweh, Brandon Garrison talk to the media
How about some basketball positivity? Now that the team is on campus, it’s time for the offseason media opportunities to begin. Today, we’ll hear from Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison, the star returners from last season’s roster. Garrison came on KSR a while back to talk about his decision to return to Lexington for another season, but this will be our first chance to speak to Oweh. I’m sure he’ll field plenty of questions about testing the NBA Draft waters, why he decided to come back, and, of course, the moment he told Mark Pope, who received the call while on an airplane, as we found out on Sunday.

We’re dropping the full camp video with Otega later this week — don’t miss it! pic.twitter.com/0nqipI19zy
We’ll bring you the highlights from those conversations later this morning. You’ll be able to watch the full replays on the KSR YouTube Channel as well, of course.
New Sources Say
After talking to Oweh and Garrison, Jack Pilgrim will sit down with Shawn Smith for a new episode of Sources Say tonight at 8 p.m. ET. They’ll recap the best parts of the interviews, Tyran Stokes’ official visit over the weekend, and the USA Basketball U19 Training Camp, which begins this weekend in Colorado Springs. Stokes will be one of 33 players fighting for a spot on the 12-man roster that will compete at the FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in Switzerland, along with current Kentucky Wildcats Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno. Mark Pope is an assistant coach on the staff, giving him more face time not only with his current players, but Stokes and the top talent in the country.
Lots to talk about. They’re going live around 8 p.m. ET to talk about it all. Make sure you’re subscribed with alerts on to get a notification as soon as the show begins.
Greg Williams Appreciation Post
How about some more basketball positivity? We’re just getting to know the new players on the 2025-26 roster, but I already have a favorite family member. Meet Greg Williams Sr., the father of Kam Williams, Kentucky’s new shooting guard who transferred in from Tulane. Greg and his wife stuck around for Kam’s first weekend on campus and attended Mark Pope’s Father/Daughter Camp on Sunday, where they even learned a dance with some of the campers. Check out their moves!
Give him a scholarship, Pope! If you didn’t love him already, Greg also had his own photoshoot during Kam’s official visit last month (by the way, he’d like a No. -1 jersey).
We need more Greg Williams Sr. content, please.
