The heat check continues after KSR’s MyBookie Bets For Every First Round Game had a final record of 17-13-2 through Thursday and Friday’s NCAA Tournament games. Thursday was the best day with a 5-0 start to the tournament until Iowa ruined dreams of perfection with Richmond’s upset of the Hawkeyes. Thursday’s final record was 10-5-1 across all 16 games.

On Friday, we finished in the red with a bad loser in the final game of the night for a 7-8-1 result overall. With the 3-2 record from the conference tournaments, KSR’s MyBookie bets are 20-15-2 since their debut. You’re welcome.

Now for KSR’s one bet for every NCAA Tournament second-round game. Let’s see if we can have another green round…

SATURDAY

No. 1 Baylor vs. No. 8 North Carolina | 12:10 p.m. | CBS

North Carolina is a trendy pick with seven wins in the Tar Heels’ last eight games, including a 32-point beatdown of Marquette in the first round’s 8/9 game. But defending champion Baylor is too good and too complete to let UNC ruin its run at a repeat. I’ll take the Bears to cover the five.

The Bet: Baylor -5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (UNC, 93-86)

No. 1 Kansas vs. No. 9 Creighton | 2:40 p.m. | CBS

Creighton made a comeback win to advance to the second round, but it lost one of its best players, Ryan Kalkbrenner, in overtime against San Diego State. A 7-foot center, Kalkbrenner had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Without him and Creighton’s small window to adjust, Kansas will have no problem seeing the second weekend.

The Bet: Kansas -12 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Kansas, 79-72)

No. 3 Tennessee vs. No. 11 Michigan | 5:15 p.m. | CBS

I hate how much I like the Vols to go far in this tournament.

The Bet: Tennessee -6.5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Michigan, 76-68)

No. 4 Providence vs. No. 12 Richmond | 6:10 p.m. | TNT

I like Providence to handle its business against Richmond in the Spiders’ hangover game after beating Iowa, but this one will be a slow, low-scoring affair that won’t keep my interest for 40 minutes. Let’s take the first half.

The Bet: Providence -1 First Half (-110)

Result: WINNER (Providence, 39-24)

No. 4 UCLA vs. No. 5 Saint Mary’s | 7:10 p.m. | TBS

This is a game that could come down to its final possession, so if Saint Mary’s is getting three free points, I like the Gaels. Saint Mary’s has the defense (9th in KenPom) to keep this one close.

The Bet: Saint Mary’s +3 (-110)

Result: LOSER (UCLA, 72-56)

No. 7 Murray State vs. No. 15 Saint Peter’s | 7:45 p.m. | CBS

I don’t know what to make of Saint Peter’s. Was it the Peacocks or was Kentucky THAT bad? I sat across from John Calipari and he looked terrified with minutes still to go in regulation, so I think it was a Kentucky problem.

Murray State will do what Kentucky couldn’t, which is embarrassing.

The Bet: Murray State -8.5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Saint Peter’s, 70-60)

No. 4 Arkansas vs. No. 12 New Mexico State | 8:40 p.m. | TNT

I don’t trust Arkansas outside of Bud Walton Arena, so let’s take the pace of play because we know the Razorbacks are pushing it. Show us points!

The Bet: Over 138.5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (101 total)

No. 1 Gonzaga vs. No. 9 Memphis | 9:40 p.m. | TBS

Yesterday we took Memphis in the first half for its pro talent surprising Boise State early and because we don’t trust Penny Hardaway in the second half. Let’s do that again today against Gonzaga. The Tigers stick around early, lose big late.

The Bet: Memphis +5.5 First Half (-110)

Result: WINNER (Memphis, 41-31)

SATURDAY RECORD: 2-6

SUNDAY

No. 4 Illinois vs. No. 5 Houston | 12:10 p.m. | CBS

On one end, Illinois was lucky to escape Chattanooga. On the other, Houston is a legit Final Four contender with that important combo of top-15 offense and defense, the recipe of a champion.

The Bet: Houston -4.5 (-110)

Result: WINNER (Houston, 68-53)

No. 2 Villanova vs. No. 7 Ohio State | 2:40 p.m. | CBS

Ohio State held Loyola to 41 points in the Buckeyes’ 54-41 victory in the first round. In the second round, Villanova is one of the best offensive teams in the country, but the Wildcats won’t push the tempo and play pretty good defense themselves.

The Bet: Under 132.5 (-110)

Result: WINNER (132 total)

No. 2 Duke vs. No. 7 Michigan State | 5:15 p.m. | CBS

I’ll be cheering for this to be Coach K’s final game, but my money is on the Blue Devils.

The Bet: Duke -6.5 (-110)

Result: WINNER (Duke, 85-76)

No. 3 Wisconsin vs. No. 11 Iowa State | 6:10 p.m. | TNT

I had Iowa State upsetting LSU in the first round and I like the Cyclones to again cover as a dog and potentially pull off an upset. Iowa State’s defense will keep this one close while Racine, Wisconsin, native Tyrese Hunter, who scored 23 points against LSU, goes off again in his home state against his home state school.

The Bet: Iowa State +4.5 (-110)

Result: WINNER (Iowa State, 54-59)

No. 3 Texas Tech vs. No. 11 Notre Dame | 7:10 p.m. | TBS

It’s been a good run for Notre Dame out of the play-in game but the luck runs out against Texas Tech and the best defense in the country.

The Bet: Texas Tech -8 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Texas Tech, 59-53)

No. 2 Auburn vs. No. 10 Miami (Fla.) | 7:45 p.m. | truTV

Miami doesn’t have the defense to stop Auburn’s Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler, but Miami might have the offense to keep up. Let’s go points.

The Bet: Over 144.5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (140 total)

No. 3 Purdue vs. No. 6 Texas | 8:40 p.m. | TNT

Purdue is on upset alert in Milwaukee. If Chris Beard’s Longhorns are getting three, I’ll take it.

The Bet: Texas +3 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Purdue, 81-71)

No. 1 Arizona vs. No. 9 TCU | 9:40 p.m. | TBS

Arizona wins big.

The Bet: Arizona -9.5 (-110)

Result: LOSER (Arizona, 85-80)

SUNDAY RECORD: 4-4

OVERALL: 23-23-2
