'That's great for him': Lane Kiffin might never stop trolling Hugh Freeze's golf game

The summer’s greatest offseason rivalry did not come to an end at SEC Media Days in Atlanta. Everyone at the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta Hotel is waiting for Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze to address his golf game later this week but it doesn’t sound like Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is ready to stop his running jokes on social media.
Back in June, AL.com reported that Freeze had been playing a lot of golf this offseason following some message board criticism amid a lackluster high school recruiting cycle that featured multiple decommitments. Kiffin has since pounced on this opportunity to rib a coaching colleague multiple times before making his next trip to SEC Media Days.
Lane Kiffin addressed the fun he’s been having on social media. The former USC and Tennessee head coach claims that he likes Hugh Freeze but acknowledged that these two do have a history.
“I like Coach Freeze, so I think they think that was something to do with like I was fishing, it was golfing. It really wasn’t that. I have a thing with him going back a few years ago when he posted a picture in response to me of like some two pound bass or something like that,” Kiffin explained. “So I kind of always posted bigger-fish pictures back towards him. Had nothing to do with his golf game, which sounds like he’s doing amazing at that.”

“That’s great for him.”
This makes Hugh Freeze’s appearance at SEC Media Days on Tuesday more exciting. The former Arkansas State, Ole Miss, and Liberty head coach opened up on his golf game with David Pollack and claimed it could be better. Freeze refused to apologize for his golf volume. This is a real storyline. I swear we are not making this up.
“You know, everybody seems to like to talk about my golf game,” Freeze explained.
Lane Kiffin is gonna do what Lane Kiffin is gonna do. One of the best characters in the SEC almost always delivers an entertaining moment each offseason. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see this off-field rivalry play out in a SEC stadium this season, but we will likely hear more about Freeze’s golf handicap in Atlanta.
What a sport.
