TOOT! TOOT!

The Lane Train is coming to Oxford.

After three seasons leading FAU’s program in Boca Raton, Joey Freshwater is on the verge of being named the next Ole Miss head coach. FootballScoop, Bruce Feldman and a bunch of others report Ole Miss and Kiffin are on the verge of finalizing a deal, all while Kiffin’s Owls prepare to play in the C-USA Championship Game.

Lane Kiffin in the SEC West is a blessing from the college football gods. The outspoken coach who once called Nick Saban’s offense will do his best to be a thorn in his side. He’ll try to hemorrhage coaches from Alabama and LSU’s staff to juice up an Ole Miss offense that has the pieces to put up a ton of points in 2020.

As for Kentucky fans, the BBN will not have to worry about Kiffin until the Wildcats travel to Oxford in 2022.

Kiffin isn’t the only big name making moves. Bud Elliot, arguably Florida State’s top talking head, expects Memphis head coach Mike Norvell to fill the vacancy in Tallahassee. At Arkansas we do not yet know who the next head coach will be, but it looks like they’re getting close to pulling the trigger. Missouri, well, that’s a completely different story.

The Tigers’ unexpected dismissal of Barry Odom angered plenty of fans. Now the Missouri Board of Curators is not happy with athletic director Jim Sterk. Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the board is “not thrilled” with the options they were presented. We could have another situation like Tennessee where an athletic director is terminated in the middle of a coaching search. Chaos in Columbia. You hate to see it.
