UK Athletics’ favorite lovebirds are leaving their nest in Lexington and taking the next step in their careers, but they couldn’t leave without wearing Kentucky across their chests one final time.
This past weekend, former UK stars Nick Richards and Leah Edmond of the men’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams, respectively, took part in a final photoshoot sporting their Kentucky jerseys.
“Last time putting our jerseys on might as well have a photo shoot,” Edmond said in a Facebook post.

This past year at Kentucky, Richards managed a breakout junior campaign in which he became one of the best frontcourt players in all of college basketball. Averaging 14.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks on the year, the 6-foot-11 center out of Kingston, Jamaica was selected to the All-Southeastern Conference First Team, All-SEC Defensive Team, National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 20 Team, and United States Basketball Writers Association All-District IV Team.
As for Edmond, the Lexington native was named an AVCA First Team All-American to go with AVCA Region Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, and First Team All-SEC honors. Among numerous other honors and achievements throughout her historic four-year career at Kentucky, Edmond broke the school record for all-time career kills in both scoring eras this past season.
This offseason, KSR’s own Maggie Davis caught up with the power couple about their Kentucky careers and what’s next for both.
