Louisville plans to build a Lamar Jackson statue

Louisville Football has nothing to look forward to under Scott Satterfield, so the program is looking back on happier times with a new project to commemorate one of the program’s stars of yesterday.
UofL athletic director Vince Tyra announced during a Monday radio interview that a new Lamar Jackson statue will be placed at the main entrance to Cardinal Stadium as part of the entrance’s expansion. The tribute to the current Baltimore QB will sit next to Louisville’s tribute to another Baltimore QB, the statue of Johnny Unitas already at the Cardinals’ home field.
According to Tyra, UofL’s big plans include, “likely taking Johnny off the Norton terrace and bringing him down and putting Lamar with him out front where fans can be more accessible to him.”

Jackson was of course Louisville’s Heisman-winning quarterback in 2016, the year he had over 50 touchdowns and almost beat Kentucky as a 26-point favorite.
There are no details on when the statue will be completed or how it will look. If it’s Jackson’s favorite Heisman pose, the sculptor should apply extra adhesive to make sure the ball stays attached.
Congrats to Lamar. What an honor.
