Everybody needs a little time away from football, even the head football coach.  The Bye Week is coming at a great time.  Friday night he'll be on the road recruiting, but Saturday he'll spend time with his family for his son's birthday, his last off day "till after this bowl game." Stoops is planning on playing postseason football.  He probably already has it penciled in his calendar.  He only needs three more wins before he can write it down in permanent ink.

More Notes from the Call-In Show

--  Banged up at OLB/DE.  Stoops didn't say exactly who is hurt, but they are running thin at the position played by Denzil Ware and Josh Allen.  He expects some guys to miss a few weeks. --  Benny Snell has exceeded the coaching staff's expectations.  "He's exactly what we hoped he'd be, but maybe a little bit faster," Stoops said on his weekly call-in show. It's not just what he does on the field.  Stoops said Snell does not approach the game like a freshman, acting with maturity beyond his years.  “He’s not here to mess around.  He’s here to play football and go to school.” --  Benny and Jojo can throw it out of the Wildcat.  They don't have to run it straight up the middle every time.  Stoops said they will have run-pass options in the package but he didn't want to give too much away.  If Benny can throw the BBN's heads will fall off faster than Harry and Lloyd's pets. --  To give the players a little more time off their legs in the Bye Week, they didn't touch the practice field today.  Instead, their usual meetings went a little longer and they hit the weight room. --  There was one play where the defense only rushed two but dropped back nine.  When Leach asked Stoops what he was thinking, Stoops admitted it wasn't a new package, just a mistake.
