After Kentucky broke the curse in Starkville, Mark Stoops spent eight minutes answering questions in the postgame press conference at Davis Wade Stadium. Stoops opened the conversation by saying he was pleased with the 24-3 victory over Mississippi State.

“Make no mistake about it, we needed a win,” Stoops said in his opening remarks. “And to come on the road to a place we haven’t won in a long time, we needed to win by any means necessary. It was far from pretty. But our team showed the grit and the resolve and the things that we need in the program. You need to win this way.”

From there, Stoops provided an update on quarterback Devin Leary, who missed the fourth quarter with something in his eye. Stoops is hopeful Leary will be OK.
