Marshall Henderson joining Ole Miss Men's Basketball coaching staff

Tuesday afternoon, the Ole Miss Men’s Basketball Twitter account sent out a not-so-cryptic video that was quickly followed up with the announcement that Henderson, who played guard for the Rebels from 2012-14, will join the coaching staff as a graduate manager.

“Of course, I am thrilled to be back in Oxford. The people here have been more than wonderful to me for a long time,” Henderson said in the release. “Anything I can do to help the basketball team continue their success, I will do to the fullest of my ability. I am very excited about getting a master’s degree. When I was an undergrad academically, I wasn’t as focused as I needed to be, and this position gives me a path to make peace with myself on that front.”
While I’m still not entirely sure whether or not we’re all about to be rickrolled, this is exactly what I would expect from a year that will go down as one of the strangest in human history. Even still, it sounds like he’ll be on the opposing bench at a basketball arena in the near future, but hopefully with his birds flipped down this time around. If you somehow forgot the legend of Marshall Henderson, allow me to quickly recap you, because he might be the most unique player in college basketball over the last 20 years (and that’s not a good thing in this scenario).
He’s had beef with broadcaster Erin Andrews, got in trouble with the law on more than one occasion, went to rehab while at Ole Miss, and directed homophobic tweets towards former NFL player Michael Sam. To put it lightly, he’s had a few controversies attached to his name. So to say that this hiring was a surprise would be selling him short; this was something I don’t anyone outside of Oxford ever expected.

But hey, now Kentucky fans have another reason to cheer against Henderson and Ole Miss. He has at least seemingly gotten his act together to the point where a University feels comfortable bringing him on board as an employee.
Of all the events to happen in 2020, is this the wildest sports-related one yet? (Actually, don’t answer that)
