Mason Moore will start Game Two of Super Regional for Kentucky

Right-hander Mason Moore will start Game Two of the Lexington Super Regional for Kentucky on Sunday.
Moore has emerged as somewhat of a postseason legend for the Cats. In four career NCAA Tournament games, Moore has not allowed a single run in 20 1/3 innings pitched against Ball State (2023 Lexington Regional), Indiana (2023 Lexington Regional), LSU (2023 Baton Rouge Super Regional), and Indiana State (2024 Lexington Regional).

With a spot in the College World Series (for the first time in program history) on the line Sunday night, there isn’t anyone else you’d want to start in this situation.

After Kentucky employed just one reliever in Saturday’s Lexington Super Regional opening win, nearly the entire bullpen will be available on Sunday. Right-handers Robert Hogan (2.75 ERA), Ryan Hagenow (1.96 ERA), Johnny Hummel (3.54 ERA), Travis Smith (6.38 ERA) and left-hander Evan Byers (5.32 ERA) should be able to follow Moore this weekend.
Overall, Moore is 9-3 with a 5.02 ERA in 84 1/3 innings pitched this season.
The second game of the Super Regional will begin at 9:00 p.m. EST Sunday night.
