Mike Williams, AJ Stewart and Jared Carter....
Three things on a Thursday night….
(1) So if you havent heard by now, Mike Williams (unfortunately not the USC player) is visiting UK this weekend. Williams is a 7 footer from England who is currently playing high school basktball in northern Virginia. Little is known about Williams except that he is a big boy….a really big boy. Apparently his weight once pushed 300 pounds and the man has been known to have some weight issues in the past. Considered a very projecty project. Does not yet have an offer.
Being from England, one has to wonder about his basketball acumen. I once played a pickup game in England and the competition was so bad, I was immediately given a scholarship to Leicester Community College. But there are differences in the game. A pick and roll is called a “fish and chips”, all three pointers must be converted to the metric system and most bizarrely of all, their streetball players have names like “the Prime Minister”, “Limey 3000” and “Dunkingham Palace”.
Still I root for Mike Williams. With the loss of Shagari and the imminent loss of Woo (a day I dread) our goofy seven footer ratio is dangerously low. Mike Williams……”Sir Michael of Williams”, could be exactly what we need for four more years of entertainment, if not rebounding.

(2) AJ Stewart, who once famously told Mosley that his dream was to be on American Idol, told me in a conversation on Thursday that if things went well, he could see himself committing to UK at Midnight Madness if not before. Time to lock this one up UK….a push at the in-home visit and the needed first commitment could be in the bag.
(3) — Although I refuse to believe it, people still tell me that Jared Carter is a changed player. I have heard that he is holding his own against Randolph Morris defensively and that his offensive game is moving steadily upward. Color me skeptical, but if Carter can transform into a rebounding presence and a player who is not a defensive liability (and if he cant by the way, Tubby will not play him), then it will truly be impressive. I was as down on the Carter recruitment as anyone….I hope this year (and especially next) he proves me wrong.
UK-Ole Miss saturday….can you feel the buzz?
