MJ and Magic put Laettner in his place

On Wednesday night NBA TV aired a terrific documentary on the 1992 Dream Team. It covers the teams historic run through the Barcelona Olympics to the gold medal. One part of it that I found particularly interesting involved Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan telling a story of a very competitive scrimmage during one practice that summer. Magic and MJ were both captains of their respective teams and each wanted to prove that he was the better player. In interviews for the documentary that most UK fans will enjoy, both Magic and Michael talked about how Christian Laettner, the only collegiate player on the team at the time, could be of no help to either team. Click here for the link to the documentary, it is set up to start at the point where MJ and Magic are talking about Laettner. Although a clip of Laettner's "The Shot" against Kentucky did make an appearance, don't let that stop you from checking out the rest of this fantastic documentary. It's a must-watch if you haven't already seen it. Also, maybe it's just me but I like to think that if Anthony Davis makes this year's Olympic squad, the teams will be fighting over who does get to have him on their team during scrimmages. Just a thought.
