News From The Weekend

Marquis Teague:  Marquis made a visit to UL over the weekend and watched the Filthy Cards get their first win in four tries over the Cincinnati Bearcats. After the visit he spoke to InsidetheVille.com and told them that he had met with Pitino after the game and the Slick One didn't let him get away without a little tugging for a commitment, to which Marquis said he just started laughing. After whatever ackwardness that moment brought, Pitino just went ahead and tugged the rest of the sheet off of the elephant in the room and told Teague that he felt they needed to get the process moving along quicker. Seems that Pitino knows what the rest of us have been discussing for the past year, which is that the longer Teague leaves the door open, the better chance UK and Calipari have of slipping in. Expect Marquis to make a trip to Lexington at some point in the near future... Josh Selby:  We've discussed on a few different occasions the prospect of other schools adding themselves to the list of Selby's suitors. Bob Huggins was one of the coaches trying to get his school into the realm of consideration but Selby nixed that idea this weekend when he told NBEBasketball.com that, in all honesty, he won't be giving serious consideration to the Mountaineers. Recent receiver of an official visit from Selby, Arizona, did make the list, which Selby said also includes Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, UConn and Syracuse. Doron Lamb:  Lamb's Oak Hill team played over the weekend in West Virginia and that allowed Lamb to turn the trip into a sort of unofficial visit to WVU. He watched the WVU game on television, saw some of the basketball facilities and hung out a bit with the team. After Lamb's own game, he told BlueGoldNews.com that his top four at the moment are West Virginia, Kansas, Kentucky and Arizona. That means that UConn and Oklahoma slipped down the list and West Virginia has made quite the jump. Old favorites, Kansas and Kentucky, still remain towards the top and you'd probably be smart to consider them the heavyweights in the bout at this point. Notes:

- Terrence Jones says that one of the reasons he didn't decide in the Fall was that he wanted college coaches coming out to watch his high school teammates play during the Spring as well. Jones also reveals that he is planning to announce his decision in early April.

- Brandon Knight and his family, as well as other recruits still considering the Huskies, are concerned about Jim Calhoun's health. (HT: Aaron's UKBasketballBlog)
