NSFW: Louisville Chants "F*** UK!" Because the Cards Lack Creativity and Intelligence

Kentucky at Louisville rivalry fans

Let’s all be honest with one another, you probably don’t want to relive Kentucky’s loss to Louisville. It’s time to move on from the misery. However, our friend Steven Peake was inside the Yum! Center for the rivalry game. His camera captured the side of the rivalry that confirms you’re on the right side of it.

There’s bad blood in every rivalry, make no mistake about it. That’s what makes them great. Unfortunately, Louisville fans don’t know how to balance the act of rivalrying with civility.

“F*** UK!” is their rivalry chant. It was echoed outside of the arena, inside the student section, everywhere.

You know what’s great about that chant? Absolutely nothing.

It lacks creativity and subtlety. Any idiot can drop an F-Bomb, which is why it makes sense that this has become the calling card for Louisville fans.

It’s not that a rivalry should be immune from profanity. If used properly, it can elevate a crowd, like when LSU plays “Neck.” During West Virginia football games, instead of screaming “bum bum bum,” during Sweet Caroline, they all chant “Eat Sh*t Pitt!” That rhyme is humorous, sandwiched in between a corny ballpark song.

The response from Pitt fans? 13-9. That’s all they need to say as a rebuttal, and that’s why it works. All it takes is two numbers to get under a West Virginia fan’s skin and remind them of the horrors from 2007.

You know what it takes to get under a UofL fans skin? Three fingers pointing at the ground.

Ls Down is stupid and childish, and yet it works because it strikes the perfect chord. Kentucky fans don’t need to drop an F-bomb to agitate their opponent. It’s a subtle hand sign that can be used wherever, whenever, because deep down, it eats away at the soul of Louisville fans like rust. No amount of “F*** UK!” chants will ever be able to get rid of it.
