The O2 is considered by many the greatest entertainment venue in the world. The 20,000-seat arena is just one part of the massive complex underneath the Millennium Dome, which was built in 1999 to house an exhibition celebrating the turn of the third millennium. The arena itself was finished in 2007 and has hosted almost every major musical act you can think of, along with the ATP Tour Finals, NBA and NHL games, boxing matches, and events in the 2012 Summer Olympics. As of 2021, the O2 Arena was still the busiest music arena in the world in terms of ticket sales, beating out Madison Square Garden in New York City.

On Sunday, December 4, Kentucky, Michigan, Marist, and Maine played the first-ever college basketball games in the O2 as part of the Hall of Fame London Showcase. As you’ve seen in pictures, the upper part of the arena was curtained off, but the event still drew a good crowd, with an announced attendance of 8,242. Considering England was playing in the World Cup at the exact same time and we were 4,000 miles away from Lexington, that’s not too shabby.

Before, during, and after the game, KSR videographer Steven Peake made the rounds at the O2 to give you a sense of what this massive venue is like. The complex also includes a bowling alley, mall, various exhibitions, and a whopping 38 restaurants and bars. Even if you’re not going to an event, you could spend an entire day there, which, based on the crowd in the concourse, a lot of locals do. BBN being BBN, we even took over one of the bars, The Observatory, dubbing it London KSBar.
