Just one win separates Kentucky baseball from the program’s first-ever Men’s College World Series appearance.

On Saturday night in front of a record crowd at Kentucky Proud Park, the two-seeded Bat Cats shut out the 15-seeded Oregon State Beavers by a final score of 10-0. Fueled by a seven-run seventh inning, the Wildcats took the first matchup of the three-game series. A win on Sunday would push Kentucky through to the CWS.

Following the massive series-opening win, Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione was joined by players Trey Pooser, Ryan Nicholson, and Émilien Pitre at the postgame press conference to break it all down. The Bat Cats will take the field again tomorrow night against Oregon State with first pitch scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPNU.
