The newly-founded Overtime Elite professional basketball league has signed yet another high-profile athlete in the rising senior class.

This morning, 2022 five-star guard Jazian Gortman announced he would be turning down scholarship offers from the likes of Florida State, Clemson, Illinois, Miami (FL), NC State, Texas and Wake Forest to sign with OTE.

“Thanking the creator above, my family, former coaches, trainers, and supporters. I also want to thank all of the coaches I was recruited by!” Gortman tweeted. “… With that being said, I am beyond happy to announce that I have signed with and will be playing with Overtime Elite.”

According to Jeff Goodman, Gortman’s one-year deal with OTE is worth $650,000.

“Today we landed a critical piece that hits at the core of what we’re building. Jazian brings a relentlessness, tenacity and leadership capability to the OTE family,” said Brandon Williams, OTE’s EVP and Head of Basketball Operations. “Jazian is widely regarded as one of the top talents in his class, elevating himself this spring through a visible commitment to developing his craft.”

“Jazian takes our guard play to the next level with his explosiveness, ability to score, pass, and defend,” said Kevin Ollie, OTE Head Coach and Head of Player Development. “I get excited about players who always bring level-5 energy –  in games, practice, the weight room, the film room, and the classroom. Jazian always brings it and that’s why so many have taken notice of him.”

Gortman becomes the fifth five-star prospect to sign with Overtime Elite, joining the likes of Amen Thompson, Ausar Thompson, Matt Bewley and Jalen Lewis in recent months. 14 total prospects have chosen to take this new professional pathway for high school standouts.

Every OTE player will earn a six-figure salary, with a guaranteed minimum salary of at least $100,000 per year, plus bonuses and shares of equity in Overtime. In addition, players will participate in revenue from use of their name, image and likeness, including through sales of custom jerseys, trading cards, video games and NFTs.

OTE provides a comprehensive accelerator for elite players’ professional careers. The league offers a year-round development program combining world-class coaching, cutting-edge sports science and performance technologies, top-notch facilities, and a rigorous, highly personalized academic program that energizes and enhances each athlete’s journey from proficiency to pro.
