Make that four Yahtzees in under a week for the Kentucky football program.

On Sunday afternoon, class of 2023 wide receiver Jakob Dixon from Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park High School announced his commitment to the Wildcats. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound pass-catcher is the 11th ’23 pledge for the UK staff and the fourth since Monday. Dixon chose the ‘Cats over the likes of Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois, Dartmouth, Murray State, and Tennessee State.

Heading into the summer, Dixon was a relatively unknown prospect. He only held a pair of Divison I offers from EKU and Eastern Illinois before camping at Kentucky twice in June. Dixon showed out in the camp setting, running a 4.5-second 40-yard dash while impressing the coaching staff with his combination of length and speed.

He earned a scholarship offer from associate head coach Vince Marrow after his camps and UK was seen as the frontrunner ever since. A few other Divison I programs got involved after the ‘Cats, but the opportunity to play in the SEC was too much to pass up.

“They wanted me to work on playing different positions because they feel like I can be very versatile on the field; I can play tight end,” Dixon told KSR in June. “They want me to put on more weight, because obviously in college you’re going to have to be a little more stronger than you are in high school.”

A three-sport star at Pleasure Ridge Park, Dixon also excels in basketball and track. Kentucky views him as a hybrid tight end, similar to that of current Wildcat TE Izayah Cummings. Dixon is a former high school teammate with current UK freshman Elijah Reed, who came to Lexington as a three-star cornerback.

With Dixon in the fold, Kentucky puts the finishing touches on a great recruiting week. Despite missing out on three-star in-state cornerback Cristian Conyer, the staff managed to add four-star S Avery Stuart, three-star IOL Koby Keenum, and three-star RB Khalifa Keith. Kentucky’s ’23 recruiting class is now ranked No. 35 overall and ninth-best in the SEC, according to On3.
