Quick Open Practice Report

Patrick Towles The open practice and scrimmage just wrapped up around 2 p.m. and there are certainly a couple things to takeaway from the event. - Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson lived up to his word. During his introductory press conference he said he wanted to truly have an Air Raid offense and let the quarterbacks throw the ball downfield. There were a ton of them, resulting in big plays for the offense. https://twitter.com/RoushKSR/status/586932341098053632 -Speaking of quarterbacks, while many fans are anxious for Drew Barker to start for Kentucky, it was Patrick Towles who shined on Saturday. He cut down on his mistakes, while connecting for three touchdowns. Barker on the other hand threw two interceptions and fumbled a snap. As of right now it looks like the job is Towles' to lose. https://twitter.com/RoushKSR/status/586945600580673536 -Freshman tight end C.J. Conrad is a player to watch this year. He's got a big body and showed off his athleticism by making some nice catches and getting yards after the catch. Look for him to have a Jacob Tamme type year. - Defensively Josh Forrest stood out as he picked Drew Barker off twice. The senior is looking to build on his junior year where he had one interception, which came in the Florida game. -Again, Nick Roush will have more in-depth coverage of the event, so stay tuned for his roundup.
