We’ve got another example of a Kentucky Wildcat using his name, image, and likeness (NIL) for good. Reed Sheppard is the latest Kentucky Basketball player to partner with RAC Recovery (Robert Alexander Center for Recovery) to help promote mental health and substance abuse awareness in the state of Kentucky. He announced the partnership on his Instagram page with a video that also includes teammates Rob Dillingham, Jordan Burks, Antonio Reeves, Joey Hart, and Walker Horn. Aaron Bradshaw and Tre Mitchell announced they’re teaming up with RAC Recovery last month.

“I would definitely recommend someone to come to the RAC,” Reed said. “It’s a beautiful place, beautiful facility. They have anything you want in there. A nice family to have around you and help you get through stuff.”

According to its website, RAC Recovery is the top-rated addiction center in Kentucky, with over 25-plus years of treatment experience, more than 30 dedicated treatment staff members, and a 50-plus bed facility located outside of Louisville in Mount Washington, KY.

“I think it’s important to help people with mental health just because I think everyone struggles with it, so being able to have a place that feels like home, that you can come and be surrounded by like a family is really cool, especially being from here,” Reed said. “I know when I was a kid, I looked up to all kinds of Kentucky players so it was really cool being able to come and visit and see what it’s all about.”

Reed is no stranger to NIL. He has deals with White, Greer & Maggard Orthodontics, Forcht Bank, and Kentucky Branded, the latter offering an extensive line of Reed Sheppard merchandise. On3 estimates Reed’s NIL Valuation at $411,000, but honestly, that feels a little low considering his popularity in the Commonwealth right now. The demand for his gear is so high that companies that aren’t partnered with him are putting out fake merchandise.
