As we continue to wait for news on Stanford grad transfer Reid Travis, here’s a glowing endorsement from a player who knows both Travis and Kentucky Basketball well: Marcus Lee. Jerry Tipton spoke to the Lee about Travis, whom he faced three times after transferring to Cal and played on the scout team the year he sat out.

“Reid Travis is a great player,” Lee said. “Since I’m always a Kentucky fan, I was real excited. I’m hoping he goes there.”

Lee’s scouting of report on Travis echoes a lot of what we’ve heard about him so far: aggressive, powerful, and relentless on both ends of the floor. Lee said Travis reminds him of his former Kentucky teammate Julius Randle in that he always finds a way to impact the game.

“He plays as hard as he can,” Lee said. “And he’s going to hit you in the mouth. You’re going to feel him the whole game. But he’s not doing it intentionally. You’re going to be able to talk trash to him. And he’s going to talk back at you. And at the end of the game, we’re still cool. … I have a lot of friends who go to Stanford, and they said the same exact thing about him.”

High praise from a source we know very well. Unfortunately, we won’t hear much news on Travis until after June 17, Stanford’s graduation, after which he’ll visit Kentucky and Villanova. Until then, check out Jerry’s articles for more quotes from Lee and do your own scouting report with the workout video below:
