This is getting ridiculous at this point. Is there a watch list or All-American team that Rhyne Howard hasn’t made during the preseason?

If there is, the options are becoming more and more limited. In the same week that she made the preseason AP All-American First-Team AND was named Preseason SEC Player of the Year by the coaches, Howard earned another recognition on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 senior guard has been tabbed to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List, which is awarded annually to the nation’s best small forward.

Howard was named a top-five finalist to win the award in 2020 and 2021, and will have another shot to take home the honors in 2022.

Already this preseason, Howard has been named to three different All-American Teams while also being selected as the preseason SEC Player of the Year by both the coaches and the media. She has a chance to become just the second-ever SEC women’s hooper to win the Player of the Year award three seasons in a row.

Howard is one of 20 candidates for the Cheryl Miller Award, which is handed out by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and is entering its fifth season of existence. It is one of five positional awards in women’s college basketball, joining the Nancy Lieberman Award (best point guard), the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (best shooting guard), the Katrina McClain Award (best power forward), and the Lisa Leslie Award (best center). The men’s side also hands out a similar starting five, where Kentucky is heavily represented.

But what makes this award more relevant to fans than others is that fan voting plays an important role in who wins. In January, the list of 20 will be cut down to 10 before trimming down to five in February. A winner will be selected in March. To vote, click the link here.
