Kentucky Women’s Basketball couldn’t pull off the upset in Bloomington on Sunday night, but Rhyne Howard still managed to make some history.

The senior guard scored 23 points in Kentucky’s 88-67 loss to No. 8 Indiana, giving her a total of 1,713 career points through just 83 games played. As a result, Howard passed former Wildcat star Maci Morris on the program’s all-time scoring list and now sits at sixth-most in school history. Morris finished her four-year career in Lexington with 1,692 points in 129 games played.

Of the 17 Kentucky WBB players with at least 1,400 career points, Howard is the only one under the 100 games played threshold.

If Howard continues on the scoring pace she’s been on throughout her first three seasons and into the start of year four, she’ll finish as the school’s second-leading all-time scorer with ease. She needs 302 points the rest of the season to finish second and 77 to tie Makayla Epps for fifth.

Barring injury and with a minimum of 25 games left on the schedule, Howard needs to average just a little over 12 points per outing to pass A’Dia Mathies for second place. Considering she’s averaging just shy of 20 for her career, that shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Passing Hall of Famer Valerie Still will be an entirely different challenge though. Howard is over 1,000 points from passing Kentucky WBB’s GOAT, which would require the current Wildcat to average roughly 40 points per outing the rest of the season. That won’t happen, but Howard will likely get within a few hundred of Still when her career is all said and done.

Congrats to Rhyne!
