Rick Bozich: "Hey, look at me!!!"

File this one under "The Courier Journal's Love Letters to Rick Pitino". Rick Bozich says John Calipari has a bad case of Rick Pitino Envy. I'll give it to you one more time. Rick Bozich says John Calipari has a bad case of Rick Pitino Envy. Take two minutes to process that and I'll meet you in the next paragraph ... Ok, we're good. So Rick Bozich squirted a pile of the Courier-Journal lube into his palm and batted his eyes at Rick Pitino in his latest piece on the C-J website. Bozich wrote about how envious Calipari is of the head man at Louisville:
"There’s no other coach – none – afflicted with Rick Pitino Envy more than Calipari."
Really? What is there to be envious of? Rick Pitino is a has-been. Why would John Calipari have ANY reason to be envious of Pitino? Coach Cal is worshipped across the state. He steals Pitino's recruits. He has dominated the first two games of the head-to-head rivalry. He hasn't knocked up any skanks. I don't see it. Bozich and the C-J often comment on the biased approach and unprofessionalism on "blogs". The paper is ALWAYS professional, right? Wrong. Bozich takes blatant jabs at Calipari.
Actually, what makes this unique is if Calipari devoted as much time to solving a 1-3-1 zone as he does to taking shots at Pitino and U of L, he’d be able to discuss something that registers beyond the whole state, like a national championship. Pitino has one, as well as five appearances in the Final Four – none of which has been scrubbed from the NCAA record book.
And some of the jabs are just uncalled for:
You don’t have to consult Eric Bledsoe’s geography teacher to understand Calipari’s agenda.
Was that necessary? What does Eric Bledsoe or his education have to do with anything here? Oh, I get it. It's a Calipari joke. That's professional. Bozich clearly wanted to be relevant again. I guess it worked because we're talking about him. The only other time I've used his work was to cover my dishes when I moved. Ha. Calipari is envious of Rick Pitino. Haha. Welcome back, Rick.
