SEC announces Kentucky WBB intraconference schedule for '23-24 season

The Kentucky women’s basketball 2023-24 schedule is just about complete. On Wednesday afternoon, the Southeastern Conference unveiled its intraconference schedule for the upcoming season.
As always, Kentucky will face 13 SEC opponents throughout the season (16 total games), including the usual home-and-home against permanent foe South Carolina. The Wildcats’ two rotating home-and-home opponents this season will be Arkansas and Mississippi State. Kentucky will also hit the road to take on defending national champion LSU to close out the SEC slate. A road matchup against Tennessee in the second SEC game of the season won’t be an easy task, either.
With Kentucky’s usual home venue — Memorial Coliseum — undergoing construction this season, the program will play at three different locations in/around Lexington. Although SEC game locations have not been revealed, non-conference games will be played at Rupp Arena (five games, including the lone exhibition), Transylvania’s Clive M. Beck Center (four games), and Georgetown College’s Davis-Reid Alumni Gym (one game).
Looking at preseason projections for some of Kentucky’s opponents, LSU and South Carolina will be the toughest challenges. The Tigers will likely begin the season as the No. 1-ranked team after adding Hailey Van Lith (Louisville) and Aneesah Morrow (DePaul) through the transfer portal. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks lost plenty of talent from last season’s roster, but head coach Dawn Staley has reloaded with another group that will begin the season among the nation’s top 10. Tennessee and Ole Miss are also projected as Top 25 preseason squads — Kentucky will play UT on the road and Ole Miss at home.
After finishing the 2022-23 season with a disappointing 12-19 overall record and no NCAA Tournament appearance, Kentucky head coach Kyra Elzy could be looking at another rebuilding season. The schedule will do them no favors either.

UK’s first road game against Florida Gulf Coast, a potential preseason Top 25 team, will be anything but a cakewalk. Three games in three days as part of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands is a tough stretch, too. Two of the four teams in that event, NC State and Colorado, will likely begin the season nationally ranked. Louisville is still going to put together a talented Top 25 group as well.
