Seth McGowan's best statistical game came against Florida

Kentucky got starting tailback Seth McGowan back in the lineup last week against Auburn. The Wildcats did not mess around and gave their starter 23 touches against a very good defense. It was tough sledding on the Plains as McGowan produced a season-low 54 yards from scrimmage but the matchup should be more advantageous when the Cats return home on Saturday night.
McGowan will be facing a team he’s had success against in the past.
The class of 2020 recruit signed with Oklahoma out of high school and received some playing time in Lincoln Riley’s offense during the pandemic year. Seth McGowan finished that season with 370 rushing yards and 201 receiving yards. His biggest performance of the year came in the Cotton Bowl in a 55-20 blowout win over Florida.
McGowan finished that game with 143 yards from scrimmage (73 rushing, 70 receiving) on just four touches. It was his biggest performance of the season. Will Kentucky’s tailback run it back on Saturday night against the Gators?

After facing the best run defense in college football last week — and three top-10 run defenses over the last four games — Kentucky’s ground attack should have a more favorable matchup in Week 11. Multiple offenses have finished with between 140-195 non-sack rushing yards against Florida. When not facing a top-10 run defense, UK has rushed for an average of 162.7 non-sack yards on 4.6 yards per rush with a 46.7 percent success rate against Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Kentucky did not have McGowan for one of those games. In those other two games, the tailback rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
Kentucky’s rushing attack could have a get-right opportunity on Saturday night against Florida. Seth McGowan will attempt to have another big performance against a team he had a lot of success against way back in 2020.
