Shaedon Sharpe’s arrival is imminent, with the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect set to begin practice this week for the Kentucky Wildcats.

According to Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, the 6-foot-5 guard out of London, Ontario is “en route” and will begin practicing with the team Thursday.

Following Kentucky’s blowout win over High Point on Friday, UK head coach John Calipari confirmed Sharpe was not yet on campus. He did say, however, they would work to get him in shape upon his arrival before deciding if he will play this season or not.

As things stand now, though, there isn’t a plan in place to play him.

“We haven’t talked about (him playing), the family hasn’t talked about it,” Calipari said. “My guess would be, he’s fine. Let’s get him in shape and go from there. There was never a plan to play him. I left that out there so everybody would panic, but there has never been a plan to play him. But, let’s get him here and work him out, see how things are, and see how our team is.”

If Calipari thinks he’s ready and decides to put him in, Sharpe will be ready for the moment.

“His mindset is just to go there and get ready. If Coach (Cal) says, ‘I need you to play,’ he’s going to play,” Sharpe’s coach and mentor Dwayne Washington told KSR. “He’s not going out there to play, he’s going out there to practice, but that can change at any moment.”

What should Kentucky fans expect? To prepare fans for Sharpe’s arrival, basketball expert Ant Wright partnered with KSR and On3 to break down the five-star guard’s game.
