Brewtown Andy - taking his admiration of 'Buzz' Williams to unparalled parenting levels
Over at Anonymous Eagle (a more fitting mascot for MU than the Golden Eagle based on their national identity), some guy under the handle
Brewtown Andy takes a shot at the University of Kentucky and John Calipari, despite him only being here two years, by claiming/asking "Why Is UK Ducking Marquette?". This presumably comes on the heels of the UK vs. St. John's announcement. Don't click this link if you hate being trolled. Instead, let me give you some highlights.
Let's get this out of the way first: in the comments section, Andy states his intent of getting comments from riled up UK fans. So, instead of posting there and granting his wish of more hits, how about chatting amongst yourselves here about how Andy was able to induce fetal alcohol syndrome from outside of the womb. But really, I do plan on introducing my children one day to my love for Guinness and IPA's, preferably before they can protest.
As a Justified viewer, he knows Kentuckians prefer using bourbon, instead.
Andy claims his courage to call out UK was inspired by Wisconsin's AD dissing Roy Williams (first sign of the trolling intent). Andy leaves out an important fact - Wisconsin is relevant and worth avoiding because they actually beat quality opponents at home on a regular basis. Marquette isn't even worth taking the time to actively say 'no' to playing them. However, he throws out that UK is "avoiding playing Marquette at all costs". He backs that up with
tons of zero evidence, a classic troll move.
In what Andy calls "another decision in a long history of Kentucky being afraid to Marquette", he states that "[UK/Cal/Barnhardt] knew what they were avoiding when they allowed the [Big East-SEC] Invitational to change". To believe so would be absurd, and make someone a bigger idiot than their blogger-profile-picture makes them out to be. Obviously, this guy doesn't believe this crazy statement, but it was another purposeful go-to troll tool.
"This means there have been 50 years of Kentucky running scared from Marquette, and 71 years of Kentucky refusing to come to Milwaukee to play! That game in 1961 was in Chicago!" - Internet yelling in hopes of making his point more credible can be seen in many trolls. Andy throws out the number of years since UK played Marquette in the regular season as if it is proof that Kentucky is avoiding the Golden Eagles. Yes, MU beat UK in 1961. Yes, MU beat UK in two NCAA tournament games in recent memory. But, NO, Marquette is not relevant in the college basketball world, especially since Dwyane Wade and Tom Crean left town.
This was a well-played troll, and nearly had me. That fact that I wouldn't be the least bit afraid if you gave me 10 points and let me pick 10 of my high school friends to play against MU aside, Andy forgot to mention one of the cardinal rules of college basketball, as spoken by a former Marquette coach -
"They had it before you, they had it during you, they'll have it when you're gone" - Al McGuire on Kentucky Basketball Tradition. You never had it. Sorry.
Still, Troll-Cuban is impressed.
