Swaggy Calipari was back tonight

After one of the biggest road wins of his tenure, John Calipari was in a great mood in his postgame presser, championing his freshman for fighting back from a 17-point deficit and throwing around all sorts of swag.

“We’re going with spirit. I’m playing with spirit. PJ [Washington] was hurt. Not enough to give. We just needed spirit.”

Spirit they had, in spades. When asked what inspired the fight in his team tonight, Calipari credited a full roster, which allows him to yank players after bad plays.

“Down the stretch we made those plays. I think part of it is, now we’re doing a rotation verses, you’re in, you’re out. Like, you don’t get the ball in a critical time, you’re out. Short of that, you’re staying in. I think it’s better for them because what does it take off their plate, what excuse? Can’t say that! Can’t say that anymore! You’re in a rotation! Wow.”

If you didn’t notice, Calipari wore a pullover tonight, a nod to his friend Bob Huggins. When asked, he hinted he might keep the look for good luck.

“You know what? I might. I might. It’d be nice to travel this light. Does Bob take luggage with him or now? He doesn’t take luggage with him, no? Does he brush his teeth?”

If that isn’t indication enough Cal’s swagger is back, this quote about the Selection Committee should be.

“We will face each other in the NCAA Tournament. There’s no question we’ll be in the same bracket because they don’t want to see the two of us advance.”

Cal taking shots at the Selection Committee makes me feel better than anything.
