Team USA dominates on way to record-setting game...and Anthony Davis provides us all with a laugh

(h/t @acrphoto) Team USA cruised to an easy 156-73 win over Nigeria in their 3rd game of pool play in the Olympics. The United States eclipsed the scoring record for an Olympic game, which used to stand at 138. The record was sealed with 4:18 left to play in the game. The team also hit a record 29 three pointers. Nigeria, if you remember, was the team to eliminate John Calipari and the Dominican Republic from Olympic contention. The side was no match for Team USA, who broke 100 points with just under 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Carmelo Anthony stole the headlines as he broke the Olympic scoring record by a US player, recently held by Stephon Marbury. Melo finished with 37 points. Melo also obliterated the 3-point record, connecting on ten 3-pointers. The moment in the game which brought about the most smiles from Team USA though was a minor miscue by Anthony Davis. Near the end of the 1st half Davis was sent to check into the game. He began to peel off his warm-up when he realized that he forgot to put on his jersey underneath. What appeared to originally be a prank by the veterans to send Davis into the game without Coach K's acknowledgement turned out to possibly be even more hilarious. Davis' teammates got a kick out of the moment, laughing with him on the bench. During the broadcast the commentators made mention multiple times that the veterans have really taken to Anthony Davis. He has been seen at the US women's games with LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Wherever they go, he's right next to them. On the court in the second half, Davis got the starting nod. Most of the starters spent the second half on the bench, giving players like Anthony Davis a nice run. Davis connected on his first field goal attempt of the game, slamming home one of his signature lobs. Davis finished the game with 9 points and 6 rebounds on 4/4 shooting (dunking) from the floor.  Poor Nigeria. How are you sleeping tonight, Lithuania?
