In what was one of the more exciting games of the 2023 SEC tournament so far, it was the Texas A&M Aggies that came away with a quarterfinal win.

After trailing by 13 at halftime, No. 2 seed Texas A&M exploded out of the locker room, winning the second half by 19 points to come all the way back and beat the No. 10 seed Arkansas Razorbacks by a final count of 67-61. It was one of the largest comebacks in the history of the event.

After going up 38-25 following the opening 20 minutes, it was all Texas A&M from there. Four different Aggies finished in double-figures, led by 18 points from Wade Taylor IV and 16 more from Henry Coleman III. Texas A&M shot 42.1 percent overall for the game and just 1-10 from long range but severely outrebounded Arkansas (43-26) and kept the Razorbacks’ stars in check. Arkansas’ five-star freshman Nick Smith Jr. finished with 16 points but did so on a 6-20 shooting clip.

With Texas A&M advancing, the Aggies will watch on from the stands tonight to see which team they’ll play on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals. Kentucky and Vanderbilt will tip off at approximately 9:40 p.m. EST for the chance to take on Buzz Williams’ group with a shot at Sunday’s championship on the line.

Kentucky and Texas A&M met once earlier this season, a 76-67 win for the Wildcats at Rupp Arena in what was just one of three conference losses for the Aggies.
