The Best Is Yet To Come: Opponents To Watch For The Rest of The Season

Here we go. In two weeks we embark on one of the toughest four game stretches in all of football with hope of a victory at a minimum. These teams are the elite of the SEC and a group that perhaps Kentucky can compete with once Stoops gets his guys on campus. For now the most impressive players will likely be on the other side of the ball and as fans we can at least enjoy them for their impressive athletic prowess.  Here are three opponents to keep an eye on when the Cats face them later this year: Jadeveon Clowney Jadeveon isn't so much a football player as he is a football weapon. Clowney was engineered to be the ultimate football player on the defensive side of the ball. At 6'6, 275 he is an absolute beast of a man who will be terrifying quarterbacks on Sundays for years to come. Unfortunately for the Cats he's going to be lined up across from them in three weeks. South Carolina's SEC title hopes took a major hit a couple weeks ago against Georgia so you know they will be making sure not to fall into the trap against Kentucky. Take a moment to watch Clowney go to work in a couple of weeks for what will most likely be the final time against the Blue and White. Despite him being a Gamecock you just don't see talent that explosive come along very often. DeAndrew White Last season DeAndrew was averaging 13 yards per catch and had two touchdowns before he went down to a torn ACL. This season he has returned and picked up right where he left off. White leads the Tide with 6 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. He leads one of the most balanced receiver corps in all of college football and one that will look to make big plays on the field at Commonwealth. The secondary played pretty well against Lousiville but this is the back to back national champs we're talking about here. DeAndrew White would be an ideal player for the Air Raid and perhaps soon we will have guys that are on that level. For now though the talent gap should be pretty clear when the Tide rolls into town. Todd Gurley For some reason the Cats have been able to play with Georgia for most of the past decade. Perhaps it has something to do with Mark Richt. Perhaps it has something to do with a bunch of our players hailing from the Peach State. Regardless it's hard to imagine the Cats being so competitive on the road in Athens this season. The Dawgs are the defending SEC East champs with offensive firepower all over the field. Not only do they feature arguably the best QB in the league in Aaron Murray but they also unleash a formidable two headed running back attack known as Gurshall. In just two games the duo have been called upon to carry the ball a whopping 65 times. Gurley has accounted or 42 of those carries en route to 288 yards. If the Cats can avoid a repeat of Antonio Andrews running all over them consider this game a success.   Which of these guys are you most looking forward to seeing the Cats try and contain?
