The Big Blue Road Trip: NKY/Cincinnati

by:Keifer Winings12/02/15
Dickmann's 3 Last night The Big Blue Road Trip stopped in Northern Kentucky to hang out with the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Alumni club at Dickmann’s Sports Café. We knew we were in the right place when we walked up to the front door and were greeted with a sign that read “Welcome Wildcat Fans.” Dickmann's 2 The doors pushed open easily, and we walked into a sports fan paradise. Seriously, when you look around, you see more TVs than you do wall. If there ever comes a time when you need to watch 30 different games at once, head over to Dickmann’s. We sat with a couple of other UK fans in front of a 60-inch TV playing the UK game. On each side were two smaller TVs, one playing Monday Night Football, and the other, a UFC fight. (There was a television off to our right playing another college basketball game, although this one was marked by irrelevancy. Looking at you, Tom Crean.) Even though Illinois State isn’t a huge game, there were still a good amount of UK fans in the building; most of the people there were wearing blue and cheering loud (and offering Tyler Ulis their arms to get him back quicker). Dickmann's 4 The beer selection was great too. They had Bud, Miller, all the classics, but also beers from local breweries. I indulged myself in a Crankshaft by Braxton Brewery, a new company that opened up in Covington, KY recently. Dickmann’s real calling card, however, is their award-winning chicken wings. If you watch the video below, you’ll see a couple of us trying the Honey Jalapeño, which were very good. Dickmann's 1 Since the alumni club covers a pretty big area, Dickmann’s is one of a couple different watch party locations. They’re sometimes hosted at Tin Roof in downtown Cincinnati and Drake’s in Florence. If you’re interested in watching a game with them sometime, check out their Facebook page to find out where they will be and when. We had a great time at Dickmann’s and next we will be heading up to Columbus for the UCLA game. Follow along with us on Twitter and Facebook!
