uk-magazines Athlon Sports unveiled Isaiah Briscoe as its cover model for this year's preseason college basketball preview magazine. It is the first of many print publications that will feature Kentucky basketball on their magazine covers this fall, as they always do. Year after year, sports magazines all over America use the Wildcats to sell college basketball previews and stories. That cover-story spotlight comes with the territory of being the best and most-anticipated team in the game each new season. There have been many Kentucky basketball magazine covers over the years, ranging from ancient Sports Illustratedto the now iconic Slam cover featuring John Calipari and his first class of superstars in Lexington. We all have our favorites, but let's not forget some of the mags that flew by without the magazine stand attention they deserved. Let's look back at some of the lost covers, beginning with the special Northeast regional SI cover before the 2014-15 season, featuring UK's Brian Long of Dupont, New Jersey: blong-cover That one got very little attention back in Kentucky, kind of like Willie Cauley-Stein's "50 Sexy Hairstyles" Vogue cover earlier that year. wcs-cover That was a wild look, Willie. If you have a teenage daughter, you probably found this Tiger Beat in your house last year: booker-cover Or maybe you bought one for yourself. I'm not judging. One of our all-time favorites here at KSR is the July 2012 edition of Salsa! with Shagari Alleyne on the cover: shagari-cover The big man is one of the best dancers in all of New York. Here's the video if you haven't seen it. And last but certainly not least, I obtained an advanced copy of next year's "Person of the Year" issue of TIME: cal-cover
