Just when you thought the Governor’s Cup win couldn’t get any sweeter, the Ky Wildcats TV crew delivered a masterpiece to the Big Blue Nation.

The UK Athletics video department is one of the best in the business. They’ve created timeless relics that capture the essence of some of the biggest wins in Kentucky football history. The 2018 win at Florida and the 2020 victory at Tennessee, John Schlarman’s final game on the sideline, stand out among their best work. This Governor’s Cup recap is in that same company.

Buckle in for eight minutes of an exhilarating behind the scenes look at Kentucky’s 38-31 win over No. 9 Louisville.

Highlights from the Governor’s Cup Recap

Mark Stoops’ Halftime Speech — Kentucky has held the mental edge in this series for years. What exactly does that look like? Mark Stoops illustrates it in his speech to the team at intermission.

“Trust each other. Know we’re going to finish, you understand? Know we’re coming in here, playing music and bringing that trophy in here. Let’s go!”

The Ticking Clock — The music is perfectly selected throughout the production. It hits even harder when the sound of the clock ticks before Barion Brown explodes for a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown.

A Game-Winning Score in Slo-Mo — The anticipation builds and builds and builds. Slowed down for effect, you feel Ray Davis being unleashed as he sprints right through the Louisville defense for the game-winning touchdown. Jeff Piecoro asks, “How tough is that kid?”

Jack Harlow — The hip-hop superstar tries, but he cannot hide the agony of defeat behind his tinted glasses.

Postgame Celebration with Barion Brown — We expect to see the Kentucky wide receiver jubilantly dancing in the locker room while making a selfie video. The surprise is the guest in his video, Tony Neely. The assistant AD for athletics communications is about as straight-laced as they come, but even he had to let his hair down to party in the postgame locker room.

What a video. What a win. Drink it up, BBN.
