3-star RB Isaiah West decommits from Kentucky

2025 running back Isaiah West, a top-500 prospect out of Philadelphia, has decommitted from Kentucky.
West, a 5-11, 208-pound back out of St. Joseph’s Prep, will reopen his recruitment amid interest from Ohio State, according to 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic. He previously committed to the Wildcats on March 1, choosing UK over offers from OSU, Minnesota, Penn State, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wisconsin among others.
The 2025 prospect took an unofficial to Columbus this weekend after receiving a visit from OSU running backs coach Carlos Locklyn at his school last week.
“To me they’re one of the best in college football,” West recently told On3 about Ohio State. “That’s one of the things for me I want to be part of. I want to play the best of the best at highest competition. I feel like I fit really good into their offense.”
West is currently scheduled to take an official visit to Kentucky on June 7, followed by a trip to Ohio State on June 14.

He is the first decommitment of the 2025 cycle for the Wildcats. Elsewhere, four-stars Quintin Simmons Jr. and Marquise Davis are committed to Kentucky, as are Stone Saunders, Tucker Kattus and Brennen Ward.
As for OSU’s side of things, the Buckeyes do not currently have any running backs committed in 2025, though they are the current frontrunner for top 100 prospect Jordon Davison and are in the running for fellow top 100 prospect Bo Jackson, who was previously recruited by Kentucky.
Can Mark Stoops and company fight to bring him back? If not, the addition of blue-chip playmaker Marquise Davis to open the month of May certainly lessens the blow.
