The Worst Outfits In NBA Draft History

by: Andrew Cassady06/26/13ACassady_KSR
In the 90's is was said that all basketball players want to be rappers but in the 20 years since then there has been a major shift in the side career of pro athletes. As Mr. McCarthy pointed out last night with John Wall the NBA is becoming more and more about fashion. Guys wear outlandish shirts and accessories in an attempt to prove who is the snazziest dresser off the court. Sometimes this works well and others...not so much. Rarely is the fashion of the NBA on better display than at this weeks big event, the NBA Draft. Every year there seems to be a horrific faux pas these guys will never live down. Here are my picks for the worst outfits in the history of the draft: 10. Raymond Felton What makes a man, when deciding from any piece of clothing in existence, go with a plaid suit? The world may never know but terrible threads seems to be a pretty common theme with former Tar Heels.  Too bad they can't offer a fake class on how to dress. 9. Chuck Person A white tuxedo. Pink Bro-Tie. It's hard to imagine a less manly get-up than the one Mr. Person rocked all those years ago. If this was responsible for Slick Rick Pition thinking it's acceptable to wear all white to a sports function then there is only one sensible option. Travel back in time and destroy the suit before it can be worn. Terminator Style. 8. Glenn Robinson When Glenn Robinson III gets picked up in next year's draft hopefully he will not make the mistakes of his father. Glenn Robinson looks more like a big band leader than a NBA All-Star. Just terrible. 7. Hasheem Thabeet Hasheem's suit was no dream. In fact it could be labeled a a major bust like Thabeet himself. When you're a top 5 pick avoid looking like you're dressed in duct tape. 6. Drew Gooden Sports are no strangers to movie crossovers. For example, there was that time Robocop saved Sting from the Four Horseman.  Another was this ill fated cross-over when they pretended Morpheus had been selected by the Grizzlies. Oh wait, this wasn't a publicity stunt? Drew Gooden dressed that way of his own free will? An awful suit if there ever was one. 5. Jalen Rose Jalen would be higher on this list if he wasn't responsible for bringing an end to the great shorty-shorts epidemic that had plagued basketball since it's inception. That grants him a pass to wear what ever he wants. We are forever in the fab five's debt. 4. Karl Malone Karl Malone was pretty jacked. So I hope he was able to track down and then beat up the guys that took scissors to his tie after the draft was over. The Mailman should have labeled this one return to sender. 3. Steve Nash Being Canadian is no excuse to rock that tie. 2. Samaki Walker Three questions. Why the white suit? What is on his head? What was he thinking? I guess we already knew the man had questionable judgement since he decided to attend Louisville. Almost good for the worst dressed player in the history of the draft. But that spot could only be occupied by one....man? 1. Joakim Noah The ugliest man in the sport rocking the ugliest suit to get within five feet of David Stern. Joakim Noah will forever hold the distinction of having the worst attire in the history of the NBA draft.   With Nerlens Noel already having showcased his style in multiple events since leaving campus  and leaving it up to a vote I think it's safe to say he won't end up on this list. However lots of guys like Cody Zeller could very well find a spot. Who did I miss?
