Three future Cats in the running for Player of the Year

by:Thomas Beisner12/16/10
The watch list for the Naismith Player of the Year award, given to the nation's top high school basketball player, was released and three familiar names made an appearance.  Marquis Teague, Michael Gilchrist and Anthony Davis filled three of the ten nominations for the award that will be given at the conclusion of the high school season.  The list will be trimmed to five in February.  Before you get all sad for Kyle Wiltjer not being on the list, just remember that none of these three got their picture taken with Josh Hopkins, so you can stick your sorrys in a peach basket, mister! Here are the other nominees: Brad Beal (Florida) James McAdoo (UNC) Quincy Miller (Baylor) LeBryan Nash (Oklahoma State) Austin Rivers (Duke) Adonis Thomas (Memphis) Kentavious Caldwell (Georgia) If - I mean when - one of the three wins the award, they will join Ron Mercer (1995) as the only Wildcats to win the award.
