Tipton's A Week Late to the Party

by:Patrick Barker01/21/10
tipton At least he knows how to smile Our friend, the Good Doctor, has written a great piece of literature about our beloved Boogie in this morning's Herald-Leader (KSR Fan Points awarded if you 1. know who "Boogie" and the "Good Doctor" are and 2. sense the sarcasm).  Tipton examines the physicality and toughness of Cousins, chronicling specific events from his high school days, including one that caused him to transfer.  Despite his resources and access to the team, it increasingly seems like Tipton just scours blogs in search of column ideas.  I say that because last week (or was it two weeks ago?) we had, on this very site, a couple different pieces discussing Cousins' style of play and whether or not it was a detriment to the team.  Of course, we also lauded Cousins in the posts for potentially being a key member of a title run- something we all know is fact. What I don't get is that Tipton says nothing positive in the article, just continues to rehash all of Boogie's shortcomings and, in all actuality, makes him sound like a short-fused nutcase.  Read the article and tell me what you're left feeling good about at the end.  The answer is not much.  C'mon, Jerry.  Give Boogie some love! The one thing I did learn from his article is that the NHL hands out a trophy called Lady Byng for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct.  Seriously?  The one guy who doesn't fight you give him a trophy with the word "Lady" in the title?  Talk about mixed messages...
