Today on KSR: Hello Mr. President, this DeMarcus Cousins

“Hello Mr. President, this DeMarcus Cousins.”
Almost ten years after that quote entered the Kentucky basketball lexicon, DeMarcus Cousins and Barack Obama reunited. Boogie shared the selfie with America’s 44th president on all of his social media accounts, but he did not share how they bumped into one another or what they talked about. I’m sure Kentucky basketball dominated the conversation.
Closer to home, there’s quite a bit happening around Kroger Field.
UK Women’s Clinic
The 2019 edition of the Kentucky football women’s clinic is underway at Kroger Field. Hundreds of the Cats’ biggest fans will learn a thing or two from the coaches, hang out with the players and run through drills on the turf at The Kroge. KSR’s Kindsey Bernhard will be sharing highlights of the event throughout the day.
Are you ready for Fan Day?
The women’s clinic kicks off a full slate of festivities ahead of the opening week of training camp. Wednesday is the annual kickoff luncheon at Kroger Field, followed by media day festivities Friday morning. Saturday morning UK fans will get to meet the team at Fan Day. The Nutter Field House doors open for autographs and activities at 9:00 a.m., followed by an open practice at 11:00.
It’s the only opportunity fans will get to see the team in action on the practice field. Make plans now to ensure you will not miss your chance to see the team before they suit up against Toledo August 31.
Yahtzee Watch?
One of the most talented defensive backs from the state of Ohio is touring Kentucky’s campus this weekend. Rickey Hyatt Jr. lives in Ohio State’s backyard, but the Cats could convince him to roll the dice for a massive recruiting win. Keep your eyes peeled.
Brandon Boston Jr. Completes Official Visit
The No. 2 shooting guard in America is wrapping up his official visit to Kentucky this weekend. Last night he was treated to some fine dining at Jeff Ruby’s with some UK coaches and Ashton Hagans.
Two Scholarship Offers
Kentucky successfully juggled an official visit while extending scholarship offers. Devin Askew, the No. 2 combo guard in 2021, and Lance Ware, the No. 7 power forward in 2020, each received offers from UK late last night. No days (or nights) off for Cal’s Cats.

Meet Three UK Legends
Dan Issel, Kenny Walker and Jack Givens are teaming up to help bring the NBA to Louisville. They’ll be signing limited edition Yellowstone NBA2Lou bourbon bottles at the Liquor Barn in Hamburg from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Stranger Things is Fantastic
The third season of Stranger Things is some of the best television I’ve ever seen. The kids we learned to love in the first two seasons are transforming into teenagers, all while set in a nostalgic 80s where the Cold War vs. Russia is always present.
It was so great, I wish it were appointment television, instead of a show many people binged as soon as it debuted. The binge era leaves us without a week to dissect each episode and eliminates any suspense left by the Duffer Brothers’ incredible cliffhangers. I powered through six episodes in one day to finish, and as much fun as my Thursday evening was, I’d prefer eight weeks of conversation about the spectacular TV show. Unfortunately, those days are gone, thanks to the bingers.
The Apollo 11 documentary is Incredible
During my last ditch effort to watch as many good things as possible before football season, I finally found the Apollo 11 documentary. Available on Hulu and simply titled, “Apollo 11,” the 90-minute feature is made entirely of previously unreleased and remastered footage from NASA. The sights are so amazing, “there’s no way this is real” was uttered more than once in my house Friday night. Maybe Jared’s conspiracy was correct, but for completely different reasons.
Four More Saturdays Without Football
Kentucky football that is, unless you go watch the Cats practice next Saturday morning. If you’re just talking college football, the Florida/Miami game in week zero cuts that wait to just three more Saturdays without football. Folks, it’ll be here before you know it.
