Is it time to get the dice out?

Today at noon, 2021 three-star defensive back Jordan Lovett will announce his college decision. The North Hardin star is down to Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Boston College, and Georgia Tech, and is considered the No. 5 player in the state of Kentucky by Rivals and one of the top 50 safeties in the country by 247 Sports. Kentucky’s got a pretty good track record with North Hardin players in recent years, snagging freshman defensive lineman Octavious Oxendine and Lovett’s teammate, 2021 running back La’Vell Wright.

All of the signs are pointing to Kentucky, but make sure the notifications on your KSR App are turned on so you can hear that beautiful “Boom, Boom FIREPOWER!”

Here’s what else is happening today…

The NCAA will vote on lifting its ban on On-Campus Activities

College football returning in the fall could take a big step forward today. The NCAA Division I Council will meet to decide whether or not to lift its current ban on on-campus activities, which expires on May 31. According to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, there are three likely scenarios that can come from today’s meeting:

Council members have three options. They can keep campuses shutdown completely by extending the ban, an unlikely ruling, according to people knowledgeable about the discussions; they can open campuses for voluntary training (without coaching interaction); or they can grant required training (with staff interaction).

The SEC presidents and chancellors will hold their own vote on the manner on Friday, but if the NCAA votes to allow players back on campus on June 1, that’ll get the momentum rolling.

The UK Cheerleading story continues to unfold

The biggest story of the week continues to be UK’s decision to dismiss all of its cheerleading coaches following an investigation into allegations of hazing, alcohol use, and public nudity at off-campus events. This afternoon, KSR will publish an in-depth look at the story featuring interviews with current and former cheerleaders. Look for it on the site this afternoon.

Retail stores can open today in Kentucky

Today marks the first day retail stores can open in the state since the pandemic began, but there are some rules.
